Summer Family Party on the Factory Premises in Herne
135 years of success and a new, modern logistics center gave reason to celebrate: On Saturday, 29 June 2024, VULKAN invited all employees of VULKAN Germany and their families to a big family party on the factory premises in Herne. The newly built Hall 8 was also officially opened in the presence of Herne's Lord Mayor Dr. Frank Dudda. Around 1,200 guests enjoyed an atmospheric celebration in summer temperatures with attractions for young and old.
Before the carefree celebrations began, the official opening of the newly built logistics hall took place. In order to create urgently needed space and optimize the company's own logistics processes, the new hall 8 with a size of 3,125 square meters had been built on an area on Heerstraße since spring 2023. Since then, shipping for all three divisions - Marine, Industry and Energy and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning - has been organized here.
Varied Program for Young and Old
After the opening ceremony, visitors spread out over the entire site, which was lined with various food stands, a lounge area and various attractions. In addition to a surf simulator, a bouncy castle in the shape of a giant pirate ship and a bungee trampoline, there was also a children's face painting activity and child-friendly balloon modeling. On the grounds of the Hackforth Academy, beekeeper Robin Frisch, who looks after the VULKAN company bees, also had some hands-on activities for children. The soccer enthusiasts among the guests were able to prove their goal-scoring skills at the goal wall shoot-out before they were able to watch the round of 16 live on a screen in the canteen later in the evening.
Anyone who wanted to show their family their working environment and give them an understanding of VULKAN's products and the production processes at our site could take part in one of the four guided factory tours or stroll through the production halls on their own along the marked routes.
Positive Feedback from Employees and their Families
“As part of our big family celebration, we were able to celebrate our 135th anniversary together and show our families what we are rightly particularly proud of: Because investments in the site, such as the construction of the new logistics center, the purchase of new machines, new traffic routes, the installation of photovoltaic systems, investments in IT equipment, the expansion of the academy or even the establishment of the bee colonies that have produced the tasty VULKAN Gold, show our sustainable and future-oriented orientation,” said Sebastian Meise, CEO of VULKAN afterwards. “It was an all-round successful celebration that met with a very positive response from our workforce and promoted cohesion among each other and identification with VULKAN,” concluded the CEO.
