Training of Employees at the In-House Hackforth Academy
VULKAN is countering the demographic trend and the increasing shortage of skilled workers by providing targeted training for its own workforce. Further education and training opportunities are offered, for example, through the in-house Hackforth Academy, which is physically located in the former residence of the founding family Hackforth on the premises of the VULKAN headquarters in Herne, Germany. In addition, the Hackforth Academy is symbolic of an internal training catalog that also includes a range of modern training formats and online learning methods.
With the Hackforth Academy, VULKAN has had its own in-house training facility and a comprehensive range of seminars since 2013. The academy was founded on the clear awareness that the personal and professional competence of VULKAN employees is the prerequisite for excellent products and services. This results in high customer satisfaction, the corresponding competitiveness and the sustainable success of the VULKAN Group.

“Sharing knowledge internally and promoting the development of employees is an integral part of our Corporate Culture. After all, our workforce is one of our most important success factors,” says Jana Welsch, Global Director Human Resources at VULKAN.
This claim is implemented in the company's own Hackforth Academy, which includes four dedicated training rooms. The Hackforth Academy develops concepts for personnel development and implements them in collaboration with the Business areas and specialist departments. “In doing so, we make equal use of internal expertise, which is passed on by internal trainers, and demand-oriented external expertise, which we bring in-house through qualified trainers,” explains Jana Welsch.
The diverse training program at the Hackforth Academy ranges from Microsoft Office training, soft skill training such as rhetoric or time and self-management seminars, to intercultural training and product training. Depending on the topic, VULKAN relies on a mixture of e-learning, webinars and classroom training.
In addition, the premises of the Hackforth Academy are available to employees for team workshops, conferences and other events related to knowledge transfer.
In 2024 alone, the Hackforth Academy offered in-house training on 15 different topics at the Academy and conducted around 50 e-learning sessions.
