Personnel Development Measure “grow” Builds Expertise

An important part of VULKAN's Corporate Culture is to pass on knowledge internally and to promote and develop employees. To strengthen the perception of individual employees within the VULKAN Group and provide them with further qualifications in various areas, VULKAN rolled out the “grow” personnel development program with nine colleagues from five different locations at the beginning of 2024.

“The aim is to build up a talent pool and develop employees who may eventually take on key positions in the company and/or be involved in international projects, and to support and promote their personal strengths,” says Jana Welsch, Global Director Human Resources at VULKAN. “The personal and professional skills of our employees are the prerequisite for excellent products and services. It is therefore extremely important to us to build up expertise for the future within our own ranks,” said CEO Sebastian Meise at the kick-off meeting. “We wish all participants an instructive and successful time and are already looking forward to the project results,” said the management at the kick-off meeting. Candidates were nominated for the “grow” program, which lasts around one year and includes online and face-to-face events at various locations, according to defined selection criteria via the respective VULKAN Group locations.

Support from Internal Mentors

The participants are supported by the HR department as well as Dr. Gunnar Gödecke, Global Director Innovation, and Dr. Jackie Li, Managing Director of Wuxi VULKAN, who act as mentors throughout the entire duration of the personnel development measure. They will all be on hand to answer the participants' technical and personal questions. “I am delighted to be part of this innovative program and to support my colleagues in their personal development and in dealing with topics that are relevant across the Group,” said Dr. Gunnar Gödecke.

Working on Two Projects

Over the course of the “grow” program, the participating colleagues work on two project topics selected by the mentors in consultation with the management and the HR department. The content of the projects is based on the VULKAN 2030 strategy and should offer added value for the entire VULKAN Group.

The first run of the new “grow” personnel development measure will end in March 2025 with the presentation of the project results at the VULKAN headquarters in Herne.
